Ever since Uggs became popular, people seem to have VERY strong opinions about them  – especially in the fashion world. Me? I’ve had my own as well. Believe me.

If anyone asked me 8 years ago if I would ever wear Uggs, I would have said “No – they are ugly and expensive”. Then again, at that time, most people I knew that wore them wore them bare-legged with a jean mini skirt and a Northface zip up… or you would ‘see’ Britney Spears wearing them in LA with short shorts….

I just didn’t get it – it didn’t make sense. I did have a sneaking suspicion about them though – and that was that they were probably warm and comfortable.

Fast forward a few years later and I caved. I decided to get a pair in dark brown so that I could wear them when I trekked through the cold to work – hence, only for utility purposes. I had to admit – they were awesome. They were warm, comfortable, cozy and easy to slip on and off. That was until I got caught off guard in a blizzard and the snow soaked through leaving leave smelly with salt stains. Lesson learned – water proof them…

Now I have another pair – short chestnut ones. I wear them out and about when it gets cold, but I have to say with jeans or leggings and a cozy little sweater – the Uggs look really cute. Maybe it’s because I just feel comfortable in them, maybe it’s because I’m used to seeing them on my feet – but when the weather’s right and you are dressed appropriately, I think Uggs look chic (yes, I said it).

Andre Leon Talley told Stylelite: “When I discovered Uggs, it was a revelation. I love Uggs. Uggs can be as chic as heels for women.”

And there you have it. What are your thoughts on Uggs?
