I’ve always had a certain level of fascination with Kennedy’s, probably because I spent my summers on Cape Cod, a stones throw from their compound. I remember the summer that JFK Jr., Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and her sister died in the small plane crash off the cape. I was in my Grandmothers living room glued to the TV watching the aftermath and thinking about how tragic the situation was.

I always thought that Carolyn was beautiful and that she always looked so polished, but it’s not until the recent years that I really appreciated the actual elements of her style. Carolyn was always very classic and elegant but in a non-forced/non-fussy way. In fact it seemed effortless. I would classify her a minimalist who always gravitated towards neutral colors (black, white, beige) in streamlined shapes, who sometimes added a pop of color with a red lip or a leopard accent. While more has always been more in my book (and of course, haphazard messiness), I love looking at and admiring Carolyn’s simplistic style and hope to try to recreate that classic polished look now and again.

Here is my Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy inspiration board:
